Ohio Soybean Association Supports Bipartisan Efforts Made to Title I of the Farm Bill

WORTHINGTON, Ohio-The Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) strongly supports the statement by Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-7th) and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) regarding Title I of the Farm Bill.

“We appreciate the bipartisan effort being made by Sen. Brown and Rep. Gibbs to address the Price Loss Coverage (PLC) program passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. PLC has the potential to create market distortions and would undermine twenty years of progress away from government programs in agriculture,” said Jerry Bambauer, OSA president and Auglaize County soybean farmer.

The statement released by Ohio Sen. Brown and Ohio Rep. Gibbs states that PLC could create inverse incentives for farmers to plant for the program instead of listening to the market. It also points out the concerns of possible World Trade Organization sanctions that would affect taxpayers and trade.
